One might say that on an excitement gauge, accounting might not compare with being an F1 racing car driver, but it’s unfair to assume that all accountants are bored to tears. For most businesses there are parts that can be a little dull, but in other aspects a lot can be interesting.
In a world where we seek out difference, so often we see sameness.
Accountancy firms seem comfortable with their stereotype and tend not to want to rock the boat. Instead of being great, shiny and bright with regards to their branding, they slip into a corporate blue and grey slumber.
Perception?
It’s not a bad strategy to want to appear trustworthy and reliable, indeed, we need our accountants to be on top of their game and compliant with all current rules and regulations, but when we, as business owners, want to seek out an accountancy firm that mirrors our own business personality – is it easy to find a fit?
Surely we would all appreciate an accountant that understands our business and our particular needs.
Because all accountancy firms tend to offer a similar set of services, there is huge potential to explore branding in a niche way for potential clients that will appreciate a difference that is targeted at them.
An accounting firm or any generic business can and should come out of its comfort zone and look to be different.
If you’re struggling to find the clients you really want to do business with, targeted branding and focussed writing might just get you closer to a happier conversation.
